In this week’s interview, we had the pleasure of sitting down and talking to Nikolas Samios, a GP at PT1. Founded in 2018, PT1 has a mission to drive transformation in the real asset sector. While it began with a focus on real estate and property technologies, the fund has since broadened its thesis to encompass energy transition, climate adaptation tech, construction tech, and infrastructure resilience, reflecting a wider commitment to upgrading Europe’s physical and energy infrastructure.

During our conversation, Nikolas shared how PT1 differentiates itself through a data-driven investment approach, deep industry expertise, and a unique network of over 80 LPs directly involved in real assets. He emphasized the importance of supporting startups not just with capital but also with access to partners, customers, and follow-on financing.

We also discussed PT1’s investment strategy, which centers around leading or co-leading pre-seed and seed rounds with long-term involvement through subsequent fundraising stages. Nikolas walked us through their impressive early results, including a net IRR of 32.5% for Fund II and high-profile follow-on investors such as Google Ventures and Visionaries Club.

The conversation touched on PT1’s technology-enabled operational model, their pan-European team, and the macroeconomic and regulatory trends, including Europe’s resilience agenda, that are powering innovation in the built environment. With their second fund nearing a final close with over €55 million already secured, PT1 is well-positioned to continue supporting startups leading Europe’s real asset transformation.
